Re: Papa Farangs Bakery Udon Thani, Now moved premises..

We refer to it as a "Good Old British Curry" because of the fact that curry had topped the poll of Britain's Favourite Food for a decade JD although I think the Sunday Roast has toppled it recently to regain the title of the UK's Top Grub.
Plus the fact it's different to an authentic Indian/Bangladeshi curry. :!:

Kinda like we all enjoy chocolate and the Dutch would have us believe they invented it, but it's actually Mexican food;o)

Enjoyed many "Brit style" Sunday roasts here in Thailand, but for a yank Sunday roast looks more like this;o)

An oxymoron!! or did the Brits actually invent curry;o)
Of course we did - then we had to go and teach the Indians how to make a decent curry (:)

yes......want some of that also, no mayo.

Need to get out there, or do some baking myself, too hot, and too lazy. Could always fly that cart over to Platinum 168, though I would probably be the only guaranteed customer. Probably get more customers at the PTT Park petrol station down the road.

shrouded in mystery it is, but basically a curry is not a curry in india, it's just called gravy there, from whats known us English enjoyed the flavors so much that we got the spice merchants to blend the spices for us to take back to Britain ,but when they got there we did not know how to use the spice, so we started coming up with our own take on it. it's a bit like " American as apple pie" , well America had neither wheat or apples. somtam , chilies , papaya, tomatoes . all native to the Americas, mind you would seem strange to call somtam Mexican food , and apple pie Chinese. so yes chicken tikka masala is British....and so is apple pie
