turned into quite a busy day, number one was bagel with crispy bacon, scrambled egg and cheese, followed by a cinnamon bun with mocha coffee. ended up with doing a bit of lunch. and dessert was moist ( love the word moist ) chocolate cake ( really moist) with caramel filling and chocolate fudge coating and fresh cream poured all over. also had a special order for steak pies with sliced tomato in the top. part of a discussion today was about coffee shops, some quite good ones around, but none where fresh baked warm goods are constantly coming out the oven. all in all a very pleasant day. perhaps if I can get a few people interested I might be able to make fresh bagels and cinnamon buns every day for breakfast, maybe pop to TJ's see if their interested as much easier to find TJ's than mine.

Even though the first time out there, I got turned around, but was only going by memory, and didn't take map with me. It really is too easy to find.

Go pass BB's Resort, pass the 'old location', pass Englishman's, and keep going till you can go no further. Meaning, there's a couple young military guys thinking. "Oh Buddha, some more ding dong farangs looking for PapaFarangs", no, don't shoot them.............Turn left, go a mere 120 meters, and simply turn right, 'following the wall around', then a half km down the road, you'll see PapaFarang's sign at the soi, turn left...........can't miss it. If you pass the irrigation canal....oops, turn around.

oh, my own fault. we had initially set off for T-J's, which was strangely closed at 10;30am
and then i tried to recall Loki's map from memory, and didn't do so well. but turning around
and exiting the same way we came in. i do remember "the wall" now that you mention it :?:

this all before going back to ring road, turning left and running into the impromptu
police checkpoint 1km later in the eastbound lane :-? two BIB set-up in middle of
highway, with a little dinky card table on side road, a reciept book and the one fella
standing in road motioning folks over. i couldnt help but feel, this was just " making
extra cash on a sunday morning" a very dangerous spot to be stopping folks

and we have a winner, collect your free coffee and cinnamon roll :) let me know when your coming and I will treat you as a "special " customer and bake a fresh one just for you for you. :l: by the way loki , what I do now is make batches, and freeze half, one of those things if I do them fast enough I can get them in the freezer before the yeast gets going, they then can be taken out , put on a try , give them 30 mins to defrost, another hour to rise and and bake ... boomshackalac... fresh at home too

I was surprised, my first 'baker' job, and of course fry donuts were the big seller on Sat, and especially Sun, "Made Fresh" .... straight out of the freezer. As I would mix an cut the donuts, Mon - Thurs, then in the freezer. Fri / Sat night, into Sat and Sunday morning, out of freezer, into proof box, then fry 'em up all night and top them. Amazing amount of donuts made Mon - Thurs and frozen. Leave Fri / Sat night after 3AM for the sticky cinnamon buns and butter cakes.

that's odd loki, my first part time job at 14 was making 1,600 doughnuts every morning at don millers, what a shite job that was. yeh love marketing, one on tv lately says baked fresh daily , well so were those sausage rolls I have in the freezer from last week. baked fresh daily means they bake every day, not that loaf was baked that day, thai bread contains so many preservatives if you eat enough after you die it will take 500 years for your body to decay

"Fresh" often over rated, steak give me aged, baked, fresh wins hands down. One exception was the cinnamon cakes my mom baked, they were as good or better the next day;o)

That place was small ma/pa Bakery, when I did my short stint there. Guy was an ass, and tried to expand, offering food / coffee shop, and failed miserably. Not a people person. Just selling donuts, he didn't really have to interact with customers, but overlooking as small restaurant, well, his true personality shined.........
