pomps wrote:Good to see Max selling Kopparberg pints like hotcakes in Udon, you need to get the draft in more places in Bangkok and Patts, checked a few bizs and they still sell with Guinness, the magners draft, some have it as a third option but if selling like hotcakers in a supposed big spending expat community here then you are missing business opportunites in towns/cities that would have an even bigger amount of big spending expats. 8-)
As said before once Geordie Val commits to changing from Magners to Kopparberg then I will feel the need to change ++)(* ,anyway food is good in Gallery, like your dig at me on UM but strange posting times 8-)

180 baht for 33cl bottle was higher than expected, magners cans were in stock there, not sure price, maybe 220 baht but wanted a 500ml can to go with the Horseshoe 350g Gammon 8-)

Anyway Gallery does not charge corkage for wine, and businesses in town with the same idea, gets my business 8-)
Agree on the food at Gallery , never had a bad feed there .. and good service nice surroundings ..

On the booze front ... know Geordie val for donkeys years and Hell will freeze over before he drinks Kopparberg , hes got Magners running thru his veins but each to their own much the same as pies sausages and the like.
Shame we lost the Koppa cans as you correctly state 500ml cans are better value than the 33cl bottles that goes for any cider ..

Indeed just back from a long trip to Bkk so the posting times are a tadge strange .. and as for my dig on UM .. surely youve known me long enough realise its a tongue in cheek comment and more so making my point that IMO the many oil n gas guys who byturn in Udon do keep some businesses afloat not so much the local full time expats ,not sure any business can solely rely on expat custom nowadays ..gotta get into the Thai trade as much as poss even then its still tuff.

As always if a biz takes care of me then I spend more *****^^ ,total bill 860 baht plus tip so 1k,marvellous and no corkage fee as always 8-)

Downside having looked at their FB recently was hoping for rack of lamb 300 baht and cheesecake 90 baht but alas not on specials at the moment, nearly chose the beef stew but opted for kiwi ribeye, medium rare 8-)

My red wine pairs with beef/venison so beef it was,not the best ribeye visually but the taste was there for 350 baht, mashed potatoes or chunky chips available, cheekily asked for curly fries but got a funny look

Spoke to wolfgang the other day, closed the restaurant side down already and cut opening hours to 5pm till 8pm. I think grab and food panda have had a big effect on his turnover

Presume mugburger and their foodpanda option has taken a big hit on burger joints around town, instead of biking it to say legends for a king of the road burger, people just sit indoors and get a turbo burger delivered, changing times indeed 8-)
