i've been having sandwich cravings this week. :hai: specifically philly cheese steak, maybe an italian hoagie (sub roll thing) with some spicy salami
or a regular ham-cheese with lettuce and tomato. :nod: are these the kind of things the bakery does? i really don't care if it costs 200B (which is what
6-7 dollars U.S.) because it doesn't appear available elsewhere (unless chernchim) and i've not yet been there to try? maybe some day in future
we will have a subway but i heard on the news "corporate" decided to reduce fillings by 25% :fubar: (and you've no doubt already heard about the infamous
11 inch foot long sub. i've fond memories of a local delicatessen back home making sub sandwhiches you couldn't even finish in a single sitting. :whew:
contrary to local myth, :?: i don't think most local expats care how much it costs, just put a decent plate of food in front of them fer chrissakes

sorry to say this many do as they are looking to make ther money last as it is hard over here and i knowne thing dean makes good food at a good price

yes that's what i keep hearing as well, RBM is putting on a good show and deserves some acclaim :clap: i was honestly pondering today
why is there almost "no-where" you can go and order what i would describe as standard "american grill" items? :?: a few tex-mex selections
maybe a huge caesar salad with grilled chicken, some hot sandwiches. thousands upon thousands of folks in town who are attempting
to eat-out everyday to just socialize or because they haven't a full kitchen at home. and yet with dozens and dozens of eateries about :(
very few seem to try anything different with their venue or more specifically, be really good at what they do? almost everyone is just
playing at some hobby and the result is so predictible. oh well there's santa fe and sizzler at the mall i suppose. can buy deli stuff at tops.
:lol: and to be fair bubba's is receiving good reviews i haven't been there. papafarangs also constantly gets compliments yet to try that either
although with the new downtown satellite branch, no excuse for that. :geek: i need to change my routine and try some newer places.

I don't honestly think it is because no-one wants to try new things, RBM does and has expanded is offerings, for many, however in the fresh food department, many places would not make some of the more delicious eats as not many will stop by and buy one. For example how many would travel say 5 kms for a good Ceasar salad you mentioned. to be fair people will make what sells RBM does as do other places that sell western food ( cooked ) but unlike SIZZLER OR pIUZZA HOUSE, NOT MANY WOULD SPEND OUT ON SALADS OR OTHER STUFF JUST HOPING PEOPLE WILL STOP BY .
What there is from CC,BH, Papa farangs, Noks, and other places is plentiful and well cooked in my book. Choices are sometimes limited but this is Thailand and if you want something really special make it yourself.

Choices are sometimes limited but this is Thailand and if you want something really special make it yourself................since now having a proper kitchen/oven after 10 years without, we never ate so good, and in house 6 out of 7 days, every meal, usually. eat better, healthier, saving money while doing so, also putting those 10 + kilos i lost back on. if i was a brit, and couldn't cook at home, i'd do half my shopping at Papa Farangs. i get ham and rolls/english muffins there. the ham actually has flavor, and not half water, so when fried, doesn't shrink 50 % like all the packaged and sliced crap at lotus.............and it's cheaper, go figure.

made a nice hoagie yesterday, as getting subliminal msgs from cali. damn tasty. have sourced most ingredients for most things we enjoy. italian, pizza, meats, ham, salami, decent tomatoes, lettuce. beef sausages (Dean's again). none of the filler crap. no more processed crap from the chains, at 300+ baht a kilo, i'll just slice pork thin, grill it for and excellent sandwich, screw hot dogs/sausages (non Dean's, as all filler/no flavor).

people were talking about canned salmon on sale the other day........please, for the same price, i can buy fresh salmon and have a sandwich w/flavor. ground beef at top, another topic, 260 a kilo w/added fat, or, 220 from fresh market, ground in front of you, no added fat. still can't get a decent steak though, and stopped trying. can manage a steak sandwich, though takes some thin slicing and patience w/knife. easier when a bit frozen.

it's Dean's Papa Farang, enhanced home cooking, or we do it from scratch ourselves, if can't find it there. a yank thing.

caesar salads, good luck with that, though Ree had one at Jeffers, who seemed to expand their salad selections, larger and looked good.
