Mrs. Shado will now cook her pla tu only in the air fryer. She likes cooking with no oil. I've only used it once, for fish sticks (fingers) and tater tots. If I have those again I'll fry them in a skillet. The pork belly, moo daeng and chicken wings she made in the air fryer were outstanding. She marinated the wings and pork loin and par-boiled the pork belly as Thais typically do before cooking those meats. They were every bit as tender and tasty as if cooked conventionally. So, it appears that the missus best decides when and how to use the air fryer.

I’m going to experiment a little with the finish. Some things were coming out a little dry baked texture so I’ve bought a little spray bottle so I can mist the surface of the food with oil before cooking. Hopefully that might give a more fried finish without dripping in oil

Mrs. S just uses the Crisco aerosol cooking sprays. Canola, Olive & Butter.

Was in Big C when I decided to try misting oil. Couldn’t find any bought spray oil nor a proper mister bottle so ended up in the laundry section & bought a little trigger plastic bottle to try for 19 baht.

Mrs. S now prefers the air fryer for cooking chicken wings. Must admit, they are every bit as tasty as the ones she used to cook in the wok.

Think I’ll add a bit of seasoning to the breadcrumbs next time. Definitely salt & pepper & maybe a smidgen of bbq powder
