Thai Chilli Beef

Post by westerby » Sun Feb 07, 2010 5:11 am

I've just been messing about with a Thai Chilli Beef recipe tonight that I found on the net at http://www.whats4eats.com/meats/nua-pad-prik-recipe .

It's...OK, but it tastes as though something's missing. Has anyone got a similar recipe for nua pad prik that I could try?

Cheers,

something missing...? what was it..?
you did add the oyster sauce..and palm sugar...?
How about a bit of Rot-Dee..? Its A Seasoning..brings out the flavours. ;)
and i would loose the bell peppers unless you like them.

MSG Westerby. The chili beef needs MSG!

Yes, thanks Shado, I'll try a pinch of MSG.

BM, I've never heard of Lot Dee. I'll have to seek advice from the Dragon to see if it's in the kitchen.

Yes Your Wife Will Know what Rot(lot) Dee Is, but i think it is actually spelt 'RosDee' ...they do beef/pork,chicken/fish/veg flavours..only a large pinch or just under a 3rd of a teaspoon mind you.
Rot Dee comes in sachets...cheap as chips where ever she does her Thai shopping they should stock it.

This is what to look for...this is whats missing.(does have Cha-rot,msg,).. ><:)(
Beef Seasoning.. 12B a pack probably 50p in uk Asian stores

Wetters the wife confirms no Bell Peppers, maybe some of that packet stuff BM suggested and a little drop of MSG! Should taste like it was just cooked in my granny's cockroach infested kitchen as the buffalo walk on by

Righty ho, Roy. That nua pad prik online recipe must be for daft Farang wives and not your pucker gen Thai people.

In summary:

drop the bell peppers

add a little MSG

add some lot dee

and crack on, thanks everyone.

Don't do it, Khun Westerby! MSG is bad for your drainage system, and your health in general.

Instead, have a bowl of cocoa puffs. All the felines do, and they're sleek, svelte, and raring to go.

Somewhere there is a poll about that, which will be your evidence to backup this claim.

Rosdee/Lot-dee/Rot-dee will have the 'magic' stuff in already....don't add more.

A Very Hot Wok....work fast swift and stealth like, get everything ready inc thin cut Beef....in the pan done and dusted a couple of minutes.
