it's the proprietors responsibility to make sure his customers are happy, and smoking laws obeyed. if they ignore to do that, i ignore to stop in.
avid non smoking, but understand it's a brutal habit to quit, if wanting. one reason i didn't go to Harry's was his smoking policy, to each their own. where i do go, there is indoor ac now, outdoor seating, and small smoking area. if a few seated in smoking, obviously the proprietor can't control the wind, so if wanting to sit outside will position myself and / or fan to direct any drift away, or simply sit inside. the view is the same.
smelling/inhaling smoke during a meal does take away from my enjoyment, after a meal, it's almost tolerable. would never visit a smoking only venue, just a preference, whether open air or not.
