Yeah, i spent a few months living in an old container in the Libyan desert. lived on a diet of beef, beef and more beef; we did get coffee and tea to drink though. The toolpusher had a pet baby donkey, wasn't half upset to find it being buggered by a desperate rig hand one day! Xmas was just another 12 hour day; we did get chicken to eat at least. I replaced a mudlogger who decided to go pick flowers in the desert one day; he returned but sadly his sanity never did. And those trips out to the rig on clapped out DC3's and Fokker Friendships - very first class.

Nothing like friendly fokker airlines... :bandit:

You know one day I thought I was in a remake of some demented Vietnam (without the foliage) flick flying in a wshite (the whale) with Huey no doors with all the characters with grim looks on their faces to be greeted by the rotation out with 'I done my time see ya later plastered on their faces', and silly bugger foreman doing a double in similar mental state as your flower picker.

So glad I've got an aircon office to practice my meditation in, it takes me nye on a week just to chill out on returning to LOS.

Yes, there's a reason why wages on oil rigs are so high and it is not because the operators want to share the profits. During my time there one chap resigned twice; but he was used to the money when off duty and each time came back so he could pay the bills. The sensible save like mad and get out when you hit your target.

Makes taking anything Thailand throws at you easy! One day without Alcohol? Ha!

Its full steam ahead at the moment as the price is up, we must keep those corporate jets in the air!

As everyone wants 'in' the corporate types try to drive the labour price down to maximise their pleasurable pastimes and hobbies, and with Iran going offline many are rubbing their hands at the sound of 'cha ching'.

I just hope everyone survived their day without alcohol it must have been such a traumatic interruption to being on the piss!
