Had mates who worked the rigs in the North Sea when it was at it's peak, late 70's early 80's. Would fly to New York on Friday return on Sunday just to get on the piss. With the cheap flights it worked out almost cheaper then staying in Aberdeen. Of course they never checked into a hotel, bars stayed open 24 hours

Growing up in the States in the 60's, now that's something to talk about. London??? I guess you've never been to New York City, Las Vegas, New Orleans, etc.

The swinging sixties originated in London and was the height of music and fashion worldwide so there was no need to go off to the USA to see the bands, shag the birds and drink the beer as all the pleasures of London town were at your disposal in the post-war boom boom sixities, quite shagadelic! The doldrums like elsewhere hit in the seventies but the late seventies and eighties roared back as KE so eloquently stated.

I didn't realize Elviz, Jerry Lee, who both started their career in the 50"s, Chubby Checker, Joey Dee and the Starlights, Jackson Five, The Supremes, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Four Seasons, The Four Tops, etc., etc., were English. Other then the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and a few others made it world wide?
