99 +1 bar south corner of soi sampan

Post by cali4995 » Mon Aug 13, 2012 7:56 am

i stopped in there the other day for the first time. must have walked past on dozens of occasions. anyway the thai woman
marisa and her (also thai) husband run the place. really nice people. apparently they've done away with the serving maidens
for the moment (and it is nice just to sit down , relax and watch life go by). actually got "huggers" for the beer bottles even
the large sizes, frosted glasses and ice :shake: if want it. think she rents motorbikes and cars from location as well. nice variation
on the general theme over there as with so many other places closing. AND apparently no beer served in central anymore. :worried:

Her reputation is NOT squeaky clean, check your bill and trust her at your peril.
I know a number of people who has been taken in by her friendliness only to find all is not well at bin tim

and someone will have to translate the britglish because i can't even make it out ?

yes tafia it's always something over there, after trying 20 different establishments i've about
given up. i always found mojo's to be about the most succesful formula over there(and they were
usually busy) bar-grill type place, comfortable seating, regular waitresses, one of the few places
that seemed to recognize the maturing market and that very few of us into the shack-bar concept.
:?:very few two-week tourist with fanny pack stuffed with bills and devil-may-care attitude

I have been drinking in their many times and have never had a problem and I am one of those miserable sods that counts his intake.
I know of others who drink in there and they have never mentioned a problem.
As the OP said Marisa and her husband are friendly people, speak decent English and have the sense to leave you alone if you do not like being social. Overall a decent bar.
Speak politely.
Think however you like.
