Thai holiday

What is the Thai holiday this weekend?
Are the bars closed? Is so from when to when.

Just went to book some flights Udon to Bangkok this Sunday. Not a single seat on any flight. That's what about 9 or so flights and god knows how many seats.

So had to book the late flight Saturday instead and spend a day in Bangers. Could be worse.

(ออกพรรษา) Ok Phansa, the end of Buddhist lent. The monks have been in meditation at the wat for the past three months (rainy season) and Saturday marks the time when they once again can leave to do other things. Big celebrations and lots of fireworks.

Maybe someone else knows about the bars. I have no idea if they are open or not.

lots of fireworks in and about the city last night, seen lots of aspirant monks out in mornings
and lots of partygoers whooping and hollering in wee hrs. suspect schools and unis term ended
im currently posting under the influence, 3 cans of leo later, the beast is out of the cage, wha- ha :lol:

got a 4 day holiday weekend coming up, for those with school age kids or spouses in gov't jobs.............IF it's honored. Aug 9 / 10 / 11 / 12

August 11 extra holiday

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has approved the August 11 as an extra public holiday, in a bid to boost tourism and stimulate people's spending, said NCPO spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree Wednesday.

By making August 11 an official holiday, the public would have a four-day weekend on the occasion of the 82nd birthday of Her Majesty the Queen, which falls on August 12.

All my weekends are 7 days long. Kids are all grown up and on there own. Wife doesn't need to work. Every day is an official holiday for me. Will the banks be open? Can't trust ATM's anymore.

banks always open at Central Plaza. pretty sure Don Bosco won't be paying notice to Sat 9th or probably the rest. didn't honor the last Thai holiday (not the bank one). or the last day of Songkran. they do what they want, and should.......teach. way too many national holidays here, plus the added BS ones.

3 months beach time a year is more than enough. also nice not needing to be anywhere except pick kid up from school van. don't know what I would do different anyway. actually enjoy taking her to school on saturdays, makes us shop at makro when nobody there twice a month.
