very telling...TripAdvisor reviews for Udon Thani

Post by realbigmonkey » Tue May 30, 2017 11:26 pm

something popped up on the other channel. it was about a well know place in town. well anyway it led me to have a look at tripadvisor, well anyway I thought I would look to see how well places are doing around town.. well I am shocked . where have all the farang eateries gone :o . talk about a market crash. and very interesting to see how many thai places getting good reviews
have to say . very poor showing in the top 10 ... or even the top 30 for farang eateries *****

Yes and no......

........ #5 Food court at Central Plaza *****

Except for T-Bar (#8), if there, I don't think I would go out of my way for any of them, or if even in the area where they are. That's all four pages of them. Maybe TJ's if jonesing for a burger. That's fricken sad.

My favorite wasn't even listed.......

Just get multiple accounts and get in the top 10...mind you be clever in usernames and wording otherwise you will stand out like a sore thumb as many spoof reviews do

flyin' high would know, he's on top of it. the last time i peeked at trip advisor the reviews were so dated as to be almost worthless . and attempting to give reviews on forum

or constructive suggestions almost always backfires on the individual because everyone immediately freaks out. plus , these restaurants open/close on monthly basis

Zigar is a cool place. Nice burgers and great coffee.

The Vietnamese place really nice. Although a once a month place for me at most as the menu is very limited so have the same food every time.

T-Bar gets a big thumbs up as well. Lovely people and very welcoming.

The pies and beer at Fiddlers Green are excellent as well. Been meaning to pop back in for ages but I always seem to be elsewhere around lunch time.

Not tried the chefs table at mill place and little Italian restaurant yet but will do soon.

...PS I've not read the trip advisor link yet so might have drifted away from what it says.

PPS when you back Deano? Looking forward to a beer.

Zixgar Club was definitively my favorite before leaving UT. Everything tested was good. ++)(*

there you go, from the source. just as easy to post a fake review as a real one :-? and then you have the obvious " proxies " telling tales of roses and sunshine while they

were dining at their mate's place  just as nooden said, it's all too painfully obvious :o

Any review is subjective and most of the Thai restaurants will be mentioned by Thais who seem to manage to eat, phone/text and access the Internet while talking, stuffing their faces all at the same time.
So any review by them will certainly be subjective.
My phone askls me if I want to review anywhere I go I decline, too friggin busy to respond , most of the time.
Eccentrics are entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd
