I stumbled upon a nice little Thai restaurant just down from 652 Bar the other day and as 652 having been having chef problems thought this may be of interest to those who frequent it.
Phar's Restaurant is on the other side of the road from 652 about 200 meters on from the 7/11 and the last unit of a new block of 4 shops. They do cheap, good quality Thai food and I would recommend the Ka Pow Gai Khia Dow which rivals the ones the missus makes. They also do a nice bowl of noodles.
I am led to believe they will deliver locally to so you don't even have to leave the comfort of the bar. ++)(*
You can stuff yourself silly for about 80 baht or order some snacks to accompany a beer. :y:

I had a meal there the other day with some friends, mine was 35bt , Ill be go'in back, and free water, big noodle box out the front ??

that's also my favorite and i honestly think the chilies are healthy for you, your digestive system anyway. i've found learning to write a few basic menu items is very helpful. ผัดกระเพราไก่ ไข่ดาว
it is the fried basil, chilies and chicken over rice with a fried egg, quite tasty.
AND if anyone knows how to copy & paste thai script in a readable size, volunteer the info
i've found if i'm tinkering around with sample web pages, i can change the font size with the code
but when pasting from a dictionary or other web based aid all you get is tiny-type?

Agreed Sir H, Ka Pow is probably my favourite Thai dish, the spicier the better unless the missus goes on a mission to see how far she can push me and adds about 25 Prick Kee Noo. ^":>
I had never thought of accompanying rice with a fried egg before visiting Thailand but now it is a must have. ++)(*

Cheers Stan, the "Special" hospital I was in did have internet access but I found it hard to post as my movement was restricted by the "Special" clothes they made me wear. I did trying using my nose to type but they made about as much sense as my posts after a gut-full of Chang! :lol:

I think little restaurants like these are often overlooked, I bet we all have a list of favourite noodle shops etc.. that serve quality Thai food in our heads but never share the information for some reason.

On the subject of noodle places. I like the place out the front of Global House.
..Is full of large plants which keeps it shaded and cool.

I like the rice noodles with all the bits and bobs of meat added that I probably don't want to know where they come from :lol:
..No idea what it's called (the place or the noodles) but I like it. Will be back in a few weeks :rock:

Good info LA. Thanks. I can read a little Thai (very little) and seeing menu items in both English and Thai helps to remember them when you are eating somewhere that has only a Thai menu or items listed on wall signs. Just takes practice.

I am also a fan,but the Egg yolk has to be runny something as simple as steamed Rice with 2 fried Eggs and a sprinkle of 'Maggi' seasoning...is a filling cheap dish at lunch time.....Top Tip...add some pork scratchings.... ++)(*
