Re: What did you have for lunch today?
Just delivered some sugar cane to a friends on the other side of Non Sung & passed a bbq chicken place that had whole birds on a rotisserie instead of the usual spatchcock style which I tend to find a bit dry.
130 baht so the going roadside rate & it was deliciously juicy. Stuffed with lemongrass & lime leaves amongst other things which probably helped keep the juices in.
Only 21 baht more than the corporate monopoly of Big C so I’ll certainly go here again to the small owner.
It’s about here (17.2739582, 102.8860626) if anyone is interested although I appreciate it’s probably a full day road trip for the northerners

Got to have the Mushy Peas option. Apart from that the Guinness and fish and chips is a great match. Also a nice steak and Ale pie goes well with the Guinness.

Yes, pomps' lunch is markedly British and once they hit your stomach, all peas are mushy.

Probably the same farangs that live on Burger King & KFC which they claim to be clean because it’s served in a shiny front area.
I can’t get on with the traditional Isaan grubs & rotted stuff but can handle most other stuff pretty well. Although I usually insist on nuking anything I’ve bought in a market that’s been lying on a table for I don’t know how long just in case.
We used to always go to the UD Town fish place when we stayed in the Pannarai. It’s a bit far nowadays so tend to go to the local market.
Mrs N even went as far as catching a fish in Yai’s pond the other week & preparing it the same. It was the juiciest ever
