Been eating quite a lot of Vietnamese on weekends in Florida as lots of places.
Think i'm bored of the 2 same options. There are loads of viet restaraunts but the food choice at them is really limited. Of couse Pho and fried spring rolls is standard but not all even do Ban Mi or any rice based dishes. Certainly not seen anything like VT type offerings you get in Udon.

I was released unsupervised in Nong Khai. I dropped Mrs N off at the relatives who I hate with a passion so I always bugger off until she wants picking up. The Girl was supposed to be staying to play with her cousins but decided she wanted to come with me.
I usually doss down in a Cafe Amazon or Mackys but I made a plan last night for a Sunday roast.
I’d seen some adverts for AJ’s Bar & Grill so messaged them to see if they did walk ins or I had to book. Booking is always tricky because I can’t read Mrs N’s mind & don’t know what time anything will happen.
Walk ins were fine so off we pop & for there at 1:15. I didn’t know at the time they start serving roasts at 1pm so that fitted nicely.
The bar is just about the last place on the promenade after the huge Vietnamese place, which incidentally was absolutely packed.
I had roast beef & The Girl had a cheeseburger which when it arrived was as big as her head. It was all very nice.
I don’t know how long this place has been there but all tables were taken & the chap, Adam immediately welcomed us & was mingling with other customers who he seemed to know the names of so regulars. It was a refreshing change to usual expat places where the owner just sits at the back nursing a Chang.
He’s an Aussie & I guess the family had lived there for quite a while because wifey on chef duties & 2 kids serving all spoke perfect English.
I’ll definitely visit again when I’m let loose in the wild.
(It’s only on Google Maps & not Apple Maps. I put in a missing place report but it usually takes at least a month for them to update it)
