The Kineree (restaurant)

was in the mood for exploring a new venue and decided to give the restaurant at the kineree a try. very good atmosphere. lots of fans and barely audible background music. quiet and out of the way. food was good and prices are very reasonable. i had gahpow gai kai dow and water. my fellow adventurer had a club sandwich and water. total bill was 130 baht.

owner came by and visited with us for a good bit checking on the food quality and whether or not we liked it. she was very friendly, happy to see us and even recognized us as new customers.

she notified us that she has a buffet every saturday night beginning at 6pm for 129 baht. i will give it a try one saturday, and i plan to return for a meal now and then.

The lady that runs this restaurant sounds really nice so I might make a trip across when I'm Thai side next time. Can someone advise me when their Karaoke night is as I'm not a fan - I'd rather stick pins in my snout.

There is not a karaoke night at Kineree restaurant, if there was I would not be there.
Do have good pool nights.

and as our little daily tidbit of trivia: "kinnaree" is apparently a very popular name for thai restaurants
globally? it is some mythical female/bird creature and i guess there is some fable associated with it?

The lower part of the body is similar to a bird, and should enable her to fly between the human and the mystical worlds.

The most famous Kinnari in Thailand is the figure known as Manora (derived from Manohara) in a Thai tome entitled Panyasa Chadok. Part of this literature is a dance called Manorah Buchayan, which is one of the most esoteric among the high classical dances of Thailand.
