city lodge restaurant

Post by PortugueseManOfWar » Sun Apr 03, 2011 6:06 pm

tried a new venue for lunch today with a good friend. we went to the restaurant on the ground floor of the city lodge, which is located not far from the end of soi sampan and on wattananuwong road. see the red arrow on the attached map.

my friend had the sunday roast special that was priced at 150 baht, and i opted for thai food and gahpow gai kai dow. my food was excellent, but the price was a bit steep at 110 baht. My friend never touched the very healthy portion of sunday roast. a thai male employee was so rude to the female staff there that my friend lost his appetite. once served, he chose to just drink his beer and leave the food.

the room was cool and environmentally pleasant. the tv wasn't too loud and easily viewed by the entire room. i will probably go back, but hope to avoid the rude thai male. no one deserves to be treated disrespectfully, and especially in front of customers.

turns out the rude thai male was the cook! now i'm wondering why he was seated at the bar drinking a big leo when we came in and why he went outside to drink his beer after preparing our meals. very strange.

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. Must have been a bad/off day for the cook. I don't go out much, but the City is my favorite place. The food is good, the staff pleasant and I enjoy the company of the patrons and the proprietors.

all of what you say is true with the one exception of the rude thai male. both of us were impressed with everything else.

The ''rude thai male'' was probably the leaseholder. If he wants to drink a big leo in his business then it is up to him. If you and your friend were so offended by his behaviour why didn't you say something at the time instead of whinging about it on the forum?

yes, it is up to him. i'm not denying him his right to do what he wants to do in his business if it is his business. it's just rather unusual to see a guy in regular street clothes at the bar drinking a big leo, then talking rudely to staff, then getting up and going into the kitchen to retrieve food, and then going outside with his beer. my friend did comment to him in a friendly way in order to take some of the heat off of the staff, who was very friendly and helpful. all my friend got from the rude thai male was a cold, hard stare and wrinkled frown. i'm not whining and neither is my friend, shedhead. i'm just reporting what we experienced at the city lodge. everything else was good and pleasant, and i stated as much. had everything been positive, i would have been just as pleased to report that. are you in some way related to the owner/lease holder or to the departed scorpio power who couldn't stand to read anything negative about a business establishment?

so now we attack the customer who was offended by the behavior of someone running the establishment? if these folks at the city lodge are your friends, just say so. some people react to things differently. maybe that's my friend's way of making a statement after his comment to the rude thai male was met with a scowl and frown. if you don't want totally honest assessments and reviews of restaurants and other establishments, just tell me. i'll stop posting them entirely.

Heyyyy...No i am not attacking the customer (your friend)...i am saying its a waste , and not a lot would put me off leaving my food untouched (and paying for it) and upping and leaving, like i said we are all differant.....So No attacks..seriously...and No they are not my friends, used to go there wayyyyyyy before what it was now when it first opened as The City...an upmarket joint with TV's everywhere...so not my pals, just talking about my eating habits and what i consider a waste of good food that was payed for by the person that didn't eat it..(nose off to spite the face line)... ++)(*
