Re: Fish and Chips
i did see a jar of onion/mayo in cold case, though didn't ask. i used the HP available, lightly, and some salt. not a big fan of salt/vinegar thing, though gave it a try, not nearly as bad as expected, actually ok. but the hp, tomato sauce and salt/vinegar are on the tables for use, might have to pinch the onion/mayo from cold case when nobody looking.......   actually sounds good, but oil is enough when trying to sleep, let alone more onions, as i had to eat my more than enough serving and half Ree's onion rings......and, surprisingly, no sleeping problems.................ENJOY.
since foreign to me, this colonial is use to no sauce on my meats or tartar / cocktail sauce (tomato sauce and horseradish, not horseradish sauce) on my fish, though usually lightly seasoned from the grill.
the fish at present is dory, until a quality cod is available, since makro's is a bit weak on flavor...........but assured coming very soon......should be very nice, the dory was quite fine also...... ++)(* ++)(* ++)(*

Re: Fish and Chips
Looking at the image, and not saying its not delicious , Sure it is.
Seems to me the batter is flat to the fish.
The batter from UK is always airy and light and puffed up and slightly crunchy. That is not.
I have tried all sorts of methods. Even added beer to the recipe. But never got it right!
Whats the secret I would love to know!

La. have you ever tried UK style, fish in batter? I think you have an orgasm tasting that!
Also, chips are almost white ,yet done through with a very slight crust on the surface
