I think Sir Farmer was referring too pre -cook the potato in oilve oil first at 125 then freezed ,then cook in the normal oil at 170, this way u get the smooth mushy potato inside the chips but a nice cripsy chips on the outside...This is why Rick stein charges over £20 for this "fish and Chips" most pubs here also uses beef dripping now thats tasty...

Last time I went to Rick Steins Chip shop in Falmouth, it was £16 for fish and chips, including drink, and starter.
It's the same price at his other shop in Padstow. Might have shot up to £20 now, with the VAT at 20% and rampant inflation in Britain.
Excellent washed down with a pint of Sharps Brewery Doom Bar, or St.Austell "Tribute".


All the chip shops I know in Cornwall, fry in Beef Dripping, the average price is about £3.50.

I believe Steve will be re-opening next week, near to the end of month. He is leaving his present premises, at the side of the Irish Clock, for reasons i do not wish to discuss,to just up the road before the Claremans Irish Bar, or what used to be the Orange moon.
I am very disappointed as i use the chippy quite a lot and have now got home whereby i have to order a shitty McDonalds.

Why dont you wish to discuss the reasons 21? Im a new member here but certainly not new to Udon so please dont pull that crap about a new poster. The reasons you have heard are probably dog crap but I see you trying to stir up a problem that has been put to bed weeks ago!

Was there a fish 'n' chip war or summat? Did someone get slapped with a haddock? Joking aside, I think he should remain in the present location, it's the best plaice to be.

I prefer Burger king chippys than Mc's....KFC ones are much lower on the chip ladder.
