Let’s wish the new owners well and hope they revive a once good thriving pub and restaurant
It’s sad to see the demise over the last year or more of a once well known and searched out venue for locals and visitors alike
It doesn’t take much brain effort to turn things around
Clean environment, Hot home cooked food, Good portions, reasonable price, and efficient and friendly service

To each their own Kally,now I read the news from my tablet and only my egg and beer stains not some newspaper ink and others peoples egg and beer stains
Guinness now 250 was 240 under Fred when he got screwed by his supplier a few years back,before then was hovering around 220.
Noticed on their FB the English breakfast is still being served the way it has over the years,back bacon with fat :dance:
Will give them another go but no more Guinness breakfasts there maybe try a babycham

Something is drastically wrong in this place. One can look at their Facebook page and see that they're not using social media like Facebook to promote their business which can be a big plus in this day and age. There are few recent posts and mostly pics of a few chicks which are not very impressive.

When the waitress brings the check she always includes a company business card, so I assumed that meant the owner would welcome some constructive criticism. I responded by email with some comments to improve on a few things within the restaurant which disappointed me and probably other customers. I gave him some time to make the changes/improvements and returned, and to my dismay nothing was any different. Needless to say I haven't been back since. If the owner doesn't care enough to listen to his customer's valid complaints and act on them, then he's obviously not concerned about his success as a business owner as evidenced by the fact that the place is empty most of the time. Pride goes before a fall, and I see it written all over the owner's face!

Mr Tongs...Ha, that was a blast from the past opp the Complek, was decent enough for a drink or 8, lively, back in time not that many places to choose from.

I still don’t know where it was. Mrs N said she saw him standing outside a building between Nutty Park & Preecha(?) Market a couple of years back but that’s closed down now & I think they serve ambient temperature sushi on the pavement outside

When the irish Clock opened it was good, the cooks were good and generally the food served met expectation . Staff were pleasant etc. over the years it has declined, then Steve and mali took over managing the place, ( although management costs were high ) they as per usual made a success of it, mainly because as we all know their Food is excellent and they had and still have a following . Then through a succession of managers and now owners it has declined , as has been stated more and more reasonably priced accommodation is now available, the menu displayed and served apparently according to customers is not up to standard.
With the opening of the BHR not too far from it, with a modern approach and pleasant staff, enough said. Sure with BHR you are not in an Air conditioned environment but hey this is Thailand if you want cool places to eat go to Europe. Good days I have mentioned also has a reasonably priced menu as does Good everything ( I think ) by the entrance to Nutty park , plus of course a whole host of other places now offering breakfast or meals across the town . In fact if you want to experiment , in one month you can eat Foreign type food or acceptable food from a different place every day of the month. Not saying it will be fantastic but probably acceptable.
Compare that to when the Irish Clock was initially opened , when the clientele were drawn to it as it was one of the few places to offer this type of fare.
Now it needs to revamp itself , with the owners being French as I understand it, you could have a French restaurant , and why not we have German restaurants and Italian, why not a French one. But it current situations seems not to be working plus its rooms are expensive.
