No argument here. Paid my taxes for 30 years in US, and 15 years here. At least ฿56 k baht a year, just in VAT, as I spend all of that 'retirement visa / income level' here. And they want to charge me 10 times what a local pays to see their crap national parks. Free for locals one Songkran day, up to 10 times for expats........ And I pay more taxes than 90 % of the locals here, if they pay at all.

Just don't care for the way the system works, as middle men / big corps are simply making too much on silly laws 'they wrote', in the US for healthcare / ACA.

To lower that cost of living........staying on topic..........if in the USA, it should be one pay point. You go to doc / hosp, and sign the bill.........NO COST. Gov't pays from taxes..........DONE.

Theoretically..........In that aspect, socialism and capitalism can operate hand in hand. Some industries should be nationalized. A profit should not be expected / allowed to the elite for providing. Water, utilities, energy, healthcare, for me, all fall under that. Also 'defense'...no stock holder, no profiteers, any overseas sales, goes back into the tax base. too simple.

Sadly, the gov't does screw up everything it has it's hands in................... so a no win all the way around, BUT, as long as corruption is the rule of the day.

Nah, just practical. But since the gov't is running 20 T in the RED, while providing crappy service at best in all sectors they are involved in, then...........better keep things the way they are. Let the elite have the spoils of their 'hard' work, 'unfair tax burden', as they do pay most of the taxes, so should keep and control most of the wealth. Seems quite fair, while throwing the poor a bone, and letting the middle class get squeezed.............

Hmm yes, on a Marriage visa income and with kids, something has to give. For me, it is Health insurance, Holidays and evenings out. Still have a few pennies left as savings, and hopefully will see me through the next 12 months, after which my income will rise up to the Retirement level and MIGHT make ends meet ..... as long as the BREXITers don't turn the pound into the new Lira.....

Somehow worked my way up to about ฿69+ k a month, for everything, this YTD. :@

When prior auditing put me at about 40 ish a month for necessities..........hmm.

Should be fairly accurate, as took the amount of ATM withdrawal, 34 @ ฿17 k = ฿578,000

Minus one bank deposit of ฿100,000 k, along with ฿45 k COH, ..... leaving ฿433,000

Other card only used for hotels (online) and online shopping @ ฿53,000 YTD

Total ฿486000 ÷ 7 months = ฿69+ k a month .... *****

Hmm........need to cut that back about 25 % or more. Though not sure how, as really don't eat out much, or sip many, just a few a week.

And I thought Thailand was suppose to be cheap living........

Going to have to keep track the rest of the year. Considering I don't have any rent / mortgage / mb or car loans, that's a bit excessive.

Not really that much this year, but maybe need to stay off of Lazada, ebay and Banggood......
