i walked thru nutty park last nite (sat) quite a few farangs out and about, many with partners. day
nite not nearly so busy but some customers still. preecha and udtown....packed out, full house. :!:
lots of foreigners here but mostly long stay, not so much the 30 day variety. maybe the travel warnings
about political unrest have kept tourists at home. or, i can think of a dozen other good reasons. it
just isnt the safe, hassle free, economical holiday destination it was 15-20 yrs ago. hard to recommend it

really to anyone that doesnt already have history here. |-) who wants to pay $$$ to come here and get mugged-stabbed-burgled

it would be nice if a few more 'family' places opened in there, and thru attrition, the 'box beer bars' that sell only one thing, way pass the expiration date finally close, then I'd venture over myself.
that's got a ways to go before I would even think about taking Ree there. ok, I probably never would, no matter what was there, as long as TJ' s and T-Bar, BHC, Sangkaew are just off the ring rd. the car is on auto pilot, and the night markets when in the area at night time.
Thailand wouldn't even make the list for recommended place to holiday at.....not even close

and not in top 5 or more to retire at.

nutty isnt really like that anymore.

very few working girls. mostly just family type customers
and a few legitimate barmaids/ service staff. still, with ur wife-date i can see your point.
if i was with a proper lady(probably not in our lifetime) she might balk at the scene

that's good to hear..........and a welcome change, next time at the night market may have to stroll thru. geez, then i'd be stuck just bashing DN and soi slum.............
actually parking is more of an issue than anything else, been down in town a couple times, thinking 'try something new' and didn't bother, as simply no parking anywhere. lunch time isn't too bad, but when it's hot, need AC, which limits choices. soi slum is definitely out, day or night. but all of udon is so congested at night, it's crazy.

I can not understand what's the big deal about walking through Nutty Park with your wife or girlfriend? Most likely more perverts and hookers hanging out in the night market. Surely they see worse on the Thai Soaps.

"how can you tell,"
The wife tells me, she spots ladyboys better than me too. She tells me too many Vietnamese at Central lately;o)

haven't noticed any working gals at the night markets, though not sure what they would look like while eating and / or shopping.........none soliciting anyway. no TV programming at house, Ree doesn't bother with soaps, an insult to anyone's intelligence. doesn't go to the wat, believe in voodoo magic religions or ghost...... ++)(*
we have no problem with a person's choice in life, as long as not soliciting to me, or doing the extrovert / look at me routine. in the past, overall environment of NP kept us away. Anything offered there is offered elsewhere in a better setting, with easier access, and without the snide comments or condescending looks from the tuk tuk drivers or vendors you walk by, after their solicitation attempt is ignored.
LB's here are way too easy to spot, though I guess the ones that are looking closer to a fine looking lass, I may miss.....but look damn good
if the miss / mr udon contest was any representation of what's available, then I'm not missing many.

Apparently the majority agree with me, as the times I was there, I didn't see any couples there. Mostly all male clientele. Only been there twice with Ree, and she will never return. Have gone over for take away, while eating at night market, but inconsistent service and food every time. Damn good ribs though, but could never get a baked potato, so a bit much just for a order a ribs, as the salad wasn't worth putting in the box. so stopped going over as always disappointed.
For myself, there simply is nothing offered there worth venturing to NP or soi slum for, not to mention the congestion and lack of parking, and absolutely nothing for a family outing. Have quite a few friends frequent the area, none take their lovelies or kids

IMHO.........as always.........your experience may differ.....
