Did the place not receive a 5 year ban when they were raided sometime ago with underrage people found, cannot just be mr tongs getting 5 year ban when his club had underrage drinkers
Just sell it as a small hotel with no drinks/club licence

15 years ago when I first came to Udon the City Lodge was the "in place" for farangs and their sweethearts.
I spent many an enjoyable evening there watching the footie taking on a beer or two with Andy's excellent cooking.
It's a shame to see its demise. It's in an excellent location so you would think somebody could make a go of it.
It started going down the pan when Andy's brother sold it.

city lodge is for sale at about 14 million THB.Zinedine wrote:It's in an excellent location so you would think somebody could make a go of it.
so tell me how you can make a profitable business with such a high Investment at the start:
a) renting out rooms for a few hundred baht a day?
b) selling drinks?
c) selling Food?
> forget it.
take a look at the new "Bitcoin" near by.
wanne bet how long they make profit over there.
not more than 24 months i guess.
the whole area around soi samphan is packed with businesses doing all more or less the same.
and one is for sure - they all make each others life harder then funny.
from a selfish point of view - it's nice for us customers but not for them bosses.
btw - the nice "palm garden restaurant" which opened on march 28 closed last week after only 4 months.
guess why?

Presumably at that price it includes the land and building. The price is about what will happen to the land and the building. The profitability of the business isn't that relevant.

Udon needs a vegan restaurant, this place is perfect and a sensible price tag

Re: city lodge bar-restaurant has. . . re-opened?
15 years ago City Lodge did not exist, it was opened after the original owner of the irish Clock had finished opening that, same owner initially. Irish Clock opened about two years after I came 16 years ago . Soi Sampan as it is now know did not exist as it is now until after the irish Clock opened and Soi farang was shut due to the sale of the Centara land due to bad debts as I understand .
It was initially ran by Steves sister and it went downhill then various managers and suposedly tenants took over, the rest as they say is history a not exactly squeaky clean run place, but that is hearsay , but it was closed for breach of licensing laws.

Re: city lodge bar-restaurant has. . . re-opened?
Sorry but the City Lodge was open in 2004 and was owned by Andy's brother a Manchester City fan, hence the title.
Steve opened the Irish Clock a year later in 2005.I remember as it was just a couple of months before we went back to the UK.
I used to go in the City Lodge regularly from about September 2004 and it was up and running before then.
Don't worry, the mind can play tricks at your age.
