Nobi, have you got bubble and squeak on the menu yet?

Meaning what? We all know that bubble and squeak is an English dish. So if one desires that, they wouldn't go to a German restaurant, they would try a British one.

It's an old joke we had going from the UM days. I used to ask him for bubble and squeak and he used to say the German equivalent was called Earth and Sky and he'd put it on the menu shortly.

By the way,
in Germany we told something similar "Erde und Hinnel" (Earth and sky)
Onion AND apple,smashed ptatoes,rest similar.
Comming from after the war,people had nothing to eat,looking for some lost potatoes at the fields,steeling some apple in the neighbourhood and grab 2 onions out of the garden.
Instead of Cumberland sausages mostly took roof-rabbits.(rest from Sunday-roast)
