(แกงจืดเต้าหู้หมูสับ) Gaeng Jued = clear vegetable soup, tao hu = tofu, sa lai = sea weed, woon sen= glass noodles, moo sap = minced pork.

Vegetable soup with tofu, sea weed, glass noodles and minced pork. A mild (almost bland) Isaan soup. Very similar to tom jued or gaeng om. The dark color in the clear soup is from the sea weed.

If anyone is down South, I spotted a new restaurant near our local lake the other day.

Very hiso with small portions to match posh peoples small appetites. Seems they had Miss Thailand finalists there last month. The Spanish night seems pretty reasonably priced taking into account each guest gets a bottle of wine.

Any restaurant that has to use tweezers to place delicate items on my dinner plate is most likely a restaurant that I will rarely frequent. I've eaten in a Michelin three-star restaurant in France but only a couple of times. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal(s) but have no compulsion to continuously repeat the experience. If eating at high-end establishments gives you pleasure, I say "why not"? Everyone should enjoy what suits them best. The problem that I've seen locally is that there are a lot of "wannabe" restaurants who are capable of "almost" getting it right.
