Bars/Clubs at Night

Hi All,

I visited Udon this past Saturday night and went to a couple bars on Soi Sampantamit (the one with the farang bars/restaurants) around 11p. I wasn't sure why, but it seemed pretty slow and not that lively; I didn't see a lot of people out partying at the bars. I was tired so I went back to my hotel a little later after getting a drink at the Beach Bar (or Paradise Bar or something, I forget). Thus, does that area usually come alive later at night? Are Saturdays more hit-and-miss in terms of people going out? The area seemed fun because of all the bars that were in the area, but it didn't seem that busy. Any advice on Udon on weekends would be appreciated. Maybe I just came up to Udon on a slow night or something.

Thanks! :)

Soi Sampan is always a bit dead, a dying night life area; and the bars there have to close at 12pm. More lively around the corner; at the southern end, turn left and follow the lights and sound. some of them stay open later.

I never go out before 9pm ... usually closer to 10pm. No one is out early. Not much happening.

...........not really, it gets worst and as stated, they close midnight-ish, if having customers to justify staying open that long.

better bet for late night are thai owned/managed, mr tongs, around the corner gets mixed reviews, not for me. Tawan Daeng, if not minding a very loud live music venue, a favorite when i did the rounds.

Beer garden at UD Town usually has something going, if not not too loud music and a footie maybe, some nice eye candy. UD Pub, another thai standard, though hit and miss, and i've haven't made the rounds in years. stick with thai venues if you want to enjoy yourself. plenty of place dot the ring rd on the northwest side of town.

know of a few others, but would be hard to give directions. as not on the tourist radar..... :wasntme:

it's stargazing and watching the grass grow at midnight, naked with a bottle of wine and a bit of sax in the background. ;) ;)

although trading enema bags at the SCH rocks also, when done getting our freak on at home.

Also, Tuesday nights are big during pool season (currently going on). Any bar with teams playing will have lots of patrons, and the games last until 10:30 or 11pm.

After that, participants scatter to the winds and could end up anywhere, but Tuesday nights have been known to turn into late-night finishes due to the pool league.

I'd never suggest watching pool. I rarely watch other than the games I'm playing myself.

The pool crowd usually brings out others to the bar -- including available ladies. They know Tuesday is pool night, too. :)
