Celtic Yard(formerly Nobi's) Our 1st time experiance.

Today, my friends from Khon Kaen visited, we felt like having German food for lunch. And decided to try a restaurant we had not been to previously, Nobi’s Restaurant behind Bangkok Hospital.

We ordered four dishes (two Thai dishes and two Cordon Bleu) and waited while we drank our beers. Took a while for lunch to arrive and when it arrived, one dish only (one Cordon Bleu for Tony). Tony waited to start with his lunch but when nothing further arrived (and no staff were visible anywhere), he begun eating his food. Generally, we like when all dishes arrive at more or less the same time? Maybe unreasonable, I do not know…

About ten minutes later, his wife’s dish arrived (well, one of the two dishes ordered). My Cordon Bleu was still nowhere in sight. About 15 minutes after Tony’s lunch had arrived and I still had nothing (and Tony was basically finished with his meal by then), I tried to find out what had happened to my order. I guess I should have taken the meal that was offered to me in the meantime but I had not ordered…

Again, no staff anywhere, so I walked to the kitchen where I found an English guy and asked him about the whereabouts of my lunch (I assumed he worked there). His response: “This is not a fast food restaurant, you just have to wait”. I suggested that I had waited for quite some time and he again repeated the ‘fast food restaurant’ story. I felt that this was a bit much and told him that I wished to cancel the order.

He then came to our table and Tony asked him what he was doing (‘cooking, or what?’). The English guy responded: “Don’t talk to me like this, I am not an idiot”.
By that time, we felt we had seen and heard enough and asked for the bill. The English guy again came to our table, blabbering something about a mistake on the bill but I just paid. I asked him whether he was the cook, he surprised me with the news that he was the owner of Nobi’s Restaurant, just wonderful.

Things deteriorated further when I informed him that I would post a review of our experience on this and several other sites. He told me “Don’t threaten me”. He then proceeded to tell me that I had violated private property as I had entered the kitchen (well, I did not enter the kitchen, I was standing outside the kitchen door). But I guess I had been on ‘private property’ all the time, since I had entered the restaurant?

Yip, first time, last time and never again! Luckily, we have a nice choice of pleasant restaurants in Udon Thani!

Unfortunately this wonderful restaurant has gone downhill rapidly, I speak to many who dine in Udon and the Old Nobis is no more neither is the wonderful food that restaurant could be guaranteed to supply.
It beggars belief that when a person buys a going concern that has a wonderful reputation that in such a short time the new owners have managed to destroy it completely, due to what I can gather is sheer incompetence. In fact soon later it had changed hands I went in to eat and the food was then OK and the new owner talked to me quite a friendly chap as it turned out and he said not only would he keep the current menu but he would add more Western food to it . I said that was a good idea as it would be silly to do away with the offerings that we had all grown used to and the reputation. he agreed.
it would appear however that he talked with forked tongue. his loss, as the OP stated there are now plenty of places offering similar and now it seems certainly better food that this place.
Nobi however having talked to him still makes his Bratwurst and other niceties which can be obtained just contact him chaps.

First of all there is a way of making a complaint in an appropriate manner and not an aggressive behaviour by storming into a kitchen and saying where's my food where's my food! My staff felt frightened with the way you acted upon and I was there to see that you made no further entry into space, this behaviour may be excepted in your own country but not in Thailand or my country and if I feel that my staff are threatened in any way I will put a stop to it, you came bursting into our kitchen 15 minuets after ordering and you told me 15 minuets is to long to Wait! If you had waited 3 minuets longer we would not be having this conversation, ask any restaurant owner or patient member of the public 15 minuets is not long to wait in a restaurant, it seems as if you have prior problems in your life but please don't bring them into my restaurant and you friend that kept punching my table talking to me like a dog I will not tolerate either, have a nice life and maybe stick to mac Donald's or microwave meals in minuets and maybe that will fulfil your desires!, Kun Paul you have never been to my restaurant since we have taken over like you said before that you have talked to me in conversation on one of my posts before, you have never talked to me I suggest you go so a doctor, I checked you out with other people and apparently you like to come on here a say you've done this you've done that but the truth is you probably just sit t home on here all day! <:> we have the same cook so I doubt the food has gone down hill so get off the anti new owner band wagon!

15 Minutes sounds quite reasonable to me, I'd just relax chill out and have another beer :beer: The idea of going to a restaurant is to relax and unwind

most times i take 15 minutes to peruse the menu, then another 15 minutes of keep changing my mind, then waiting 15-20 mins for something to arrive, and all that time i would be having a drink and taking in the surroundings and what everyone else is eating and doing.

Its not the best start, seeing as word travels very fast in small towns maybe both partys could get together and sort things out and make things come across in a more reasonable manner, just a thought.

As much as I love Chinese food , it's one thing that pisses me off in Chinese restaurants in London - the way they want you to order quick and eat quick and be out the door , I like to unwind when having a meal , especially when one is paying for it
