have you seen this ad on channel #64 the local udon news? it appears to be a beer garden type restaurant(i'm guessing run by thais) that offers live music and western menu selections as well? strange, they were showing menu items (with english descriptions) but not an english language address for the place?
they had one of those country-western "rope signs" you know the script is formed with rope anyway it says like "ruen-mo-something" but then they have english signage that says relax place so who knows? just looked like possibly and interesting joint to visit? to be perfectly candid, they were exceptional looking fit serving wenches in the advertisement and well, need i say more? "( and while i'm babbling on about nothing where are the local disco's in town? yellow bird disgo? is this where you go to listen to live music now? >:<>)( and , who is in charge of the fit-serving-wench-database because that's like way overdue "(

Good idea...Well Lordy you seem to be out and about a fair bit and also you seem to have your eyes wide open...howza bout you take a few digital photo pics....post the results on here, it will be a popular thread i'll wager.

There is a Relax Place restaurant across from Nong Prajak park, but it's not the one described in the op. It's a small open air restaurant owned & operated by a family that also opened Relax Home (airport side of town). This same family opened another Relax ____(?) in Soi Katoy but it never got off the ground. Both restaurants offer western food, quality and at a good price. Have no idea if they're affiliated with the restaurant in the op.

For Thai disco's I like the place near the complex.
..Come out of complex turn left, walk to junction and it on the right hand side. Big wooden place with no english signage but loads of motor-cys outside (at night time). Usually some cheap charlie drinkng beer at the shop house on the other side of the road . Anyway is good inside...loads of locals drinking Johnny Walker and dancing like there is no tomorrow to the live band. Bit off-putting going for a piss and some guy massages your neck (or was that just me ) :fubar:

Yellow Bird disco is situated at the Charoen Hotel near the back of the Botanical car park.Good live music in here,when I last went.Not so much for the youngsters,more for the maturer set....depends what his Lordship likes,I guess. >:<>)(
Incidentally,the Brothers Club,opposite the complex is being systematically dismantled.Not sure if Central are going to start a new building project there or something else will spring up.
I'm sure theres a Relax place heading past Tesco's towards the Nong Prajak lights ?? Theres a car wash downstairs and upstairs theres quite a plush lounge with sofa's,TV's,relaxing music and food.....went there once and enjoyed it.
They washed our car whilst we ate and drank.....quite reasonable,about 150 baht,I think.

Yeh the Tawen Daeng, yellow bird and the pool side at the charoen are a good places.
Miss Mambo and the korean bbq heard both closed so didnt try going either place last time.
Went 1 or 2 times to the brothers club with dj music no people inside and it deffinatly was not my type of place so i wont miss it if being torn apart.
Cant remember any place with rope sign.
Wolverine was at first a shock being my second day in thailand, i was with a friend and he said something to the tuk tuk driver and off we went and ended up there, had 1 drink and i was gone :x

well yes, i've yet to go inside tawan-daeng or visit yellow bird but i'm fairly certain they are open later than the standard 11-12pm most nightlife places are shutteringup? have to get a friend and go check it out. yes, i need a camera and my mission is to compile the database of fit-serving-wenches-udon-chapter OR at least i will have an entry for next months photo comp. thanks for all the feedback. *****^^i'll try and get the low-down on the thai signage for relax place? "ruen" means like "prosper"? for example "humungus-ja-ruen" would mean that the humungus shall prosper? and frankly, how i expect to be greeted "( by all the local villagers...in my dreams "(

The last time (Christmas) I went to one of these 'late-night' establishments, it closed at around 1am.

the place where i stay is very much a "no-tell motel" with most of the traffic being thais staying only for the night and let me tell you, there are large numbers rolling in at 2-3-4am drinking and coming from somewhere so apparently there are "clubs" out there open until the wee hours. but then i certainly don't know much about the "thai scene" and i daresay, i doubt few do? i do miss some live music and i suspect "yellow bird" and "tawan daeng" may be the best suggestion for a casual night-out, a few beers and pleasant live music playing "( and quite honestly, i usually am in bed by 11pm

Not sure if they have a rope sign but the one place that pretty much never closed because the police where working there was or is little rock.
A friend went there with some thai people to continue partying after closing time to Mr Tongs and he came back to the hotel around dawn mind you he was the only falang there.
I went there and had a few drinks another night and a kind lady said we should leave as there was a lot of say 20 year olds drinking and looking for any reason to beat anybody up and i think us 2 falangs were easy targets so i did the scensiable thing drank up and left.
