your thoughts please? after buying packs of plastic
bottles for ages, i can't help but notice proliferation
of these machines everywhere? price seems to be
around 1 baht/ litre? better or worse? only as good as
machines are maintained? merely tap water that's
had a rough clean? bkk studies say 50% of units iffy

Reverse osmosis, no problem if maintained ;o)

We use them mostly for filling large jugs for putting water in the humidifier, making tea, coffee and a source of water for Mr. Fat.

i can only say that my stomach tells me its not the
same as bottled water , with city tap water most dubious
and with beauty salons and auto shops and gawd
knows who else running toxic fluids down drain I
honestly shudder at quality of city water? how is it treated
what standards does it meet? home filters necessary? :()(

I remember a few years ago a survey showed that over 60 odd % were badly maintained, water only good for watering plants, which are not so picky !!

Get yourself a 2 or 3 stage filter and glass bottles. No worries afterward. Out 'Pure' counter top, 2 stage cost <฿3k
Get a 'Yeti' tumbler, and have cool water for hours. Cheap here as apposed to ฿1000 in USA.

We only use glass containers / bottles for storage. That 'plastic' thingy. Less is better, all around. Any monkey knows that:

Considering that water is nearly 70% of our personal mass, then WATER is very important, now I know friends that hav e installed highly expensive and slightly complicated water systems, expensive and prone to go wrong, plus you need to maintain them.

The RO water available in 20 litre containers at 10 baht a bottle after the initial outlay of 100 baht a bottle is perfectly acceptable for cooking with and for Tea or Coffee. Plus ice-making .

Drinking water I purchase by the main supplier just by Thai Siri market considerably cheaper than Supermarkets ( any of them )

Washing water I get from the village, considerably cleaner than supplied by Udon Town water.
garden is fed by a well and the rain. ( 6 tanks collect that )

The amount I spend per month is approx. 330 baht for drinking plus 30 baht for cooking plus 50 baht for washing etc.

In fifteen odd years approx 70 K spent, but ZERO maintenance, considering one of my friends update his filtration system at a cost nearing 40 k I think my system is pretty foolproof and I never run out of drinking water or washing water or ice !!

We have 2 stage filter, threaded, and once a year or 2, needs replacing. All of 5 minutes, and LAZ sells the replacement filters, so don't even need to leave the house to buy.

I personally wouldn't trust bottled water, them big things, delivered to the house, or the machines, as source of, and filtration are a bit suspect. Buying bottled water in plastic, that has sat on loading docks in the sun, for only Buddha knows how long....no thanks on that one either. Though at my / our age, don't think it matter, but I'll pass.
