American Consular Outreach Service

Post by jingjai » Wed May 05, 2010 5:02 pm

If anyone is in need of their services, please e-mail and inform them: acsbkk@state.gov
If enough people request it, perhaps they will schedule a visit to Udon or Khon Kaen?

they still come twice a year....................matter of fact they were here in february. their usual visits were apr/may and again in nov/dec, about 6 months apart. they came in feb. because they needed to come here for other reasons, hopefully not a death, but is suspect so, so while here, they made it an outreach visit, nice gesture, tho i just missed it, as i went to bkk, only to read there announcement a week of so later saying they were coming, could of saved that trip, but any reason is a good reason to get out and about. i would suspect they would be back maybe july / aug, 6 months since feb. which really works for me, if they keep that rotation, as couple weeks before my visa renewal. ++)(* ++)(*

Yes, the mysterious February visit. They were here one day before I returned to Udon :x . I was expecting them to come to Udon or Khon Kaen in March or April.
or do we have to request them to come ?
No, however... They might make a visit if enough people in Udon, Nong Khai, or Khon Kaen let the ACS know. Otherwise, it will be as LA said every six months.

Bottom line...e-mail: acsbkk@state.gov Ask them to come to Udon or Khon Kaen.
Even if you don't need their services, e-mail and tell 'em to come up. Help me out here...I need my income letter by mid-June, and don't want to spend the money to go to Bangkok. I'm way over budget as it is this year  .

Has anyone ever used the American Embassy in Laos for ACS services?
http://laos.usembassy.gov/information_f ... elers.html

Website reads they perform all services:
The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the Consular Section assists American citizens in Laos. The unit provides a variety of services including: passport and citizenship services, registration of births, assistance with Federal benefits, notarial services, voting and tax information.

A friend of mine on holiday in Udon needed pages added to his passport. Since he was taking in a few days in Vientiane he popped over to the Embassy and had done there. If you're thinking about getting an income letter I would check with Immigration to see if they'll accept it. You know how quirky they can be.

I've been informed that Thai Immigration will not accept a income verification letter from Laos.
Well, I guess that's that for that plan.

Sure hope enough Americans e-mail the embassy: acsbkk@state.gov and request a consular visit to either Udon or Khon Kaen...sometime between now and mid-June.

Remember, a income verification letter dated anytime in 2010, is valid for your visa renewal, whatever date you need to renew in 2010. So, even if you don't need to renew until later on this year...if the letter is dated 2010...it will be valid.

I need to renew by June 24.
Help me out here...my fellow Americans. Send those e-mails out. I don't want to spend the money to go to Bangkok.

The most frustrating thing about this is, last year (2009), I got a new income verification letter. When I renewed my visa extension in June... The immigration officer in Nong Khai stated to both me and my wife that the income verification letter would be valid for two more renewals.
Now it seems that the new Udon office is requiring a new income verification letter :? :x .

Not good advise, if not accepted then it's money wasted.

Ron, despite how ignorant you think the Thai people are I'm pretty sure they can read the difference between Embassy of the United States, Bangkok, Thailand vs Embassy of the United States, Vientiane, Laos
