Thing I find with tofu is it really tastes like next to nothing.....its all about how its cooked/what its cooked with. You are pretty much spot on with your observation about it depending on how its served.

Perhaps more like a thick custard, kinda looks like custard to.
The missus just told me its made from beans and eggs so sounds about right. For me it's a case of I can take them or leave them really, very much depends on the food it's served in.

Thats right Royston thats the stuff...sounds like it anyway...although its not runny like salad creem...more jelly like...well not like a jelly as its weaker than a jelly...know what i mean.

Is that stuff that looks like salad cream in a plastic wrapper Tofu? The missus slices it and fries it, then they kind of look a bit like miniature dumplings.

My Mrs deep fries the cubes....then stir fries with Thai Basil, Oyster Sauce, Fish Sauce, Sugar, Garlic ,Chilly Spring Onion...the Cubes soak up some of the sauce like a sponge.....bite into them and its a taste explosion its heaven.....nice lite dish too.

Yeahhhhh thats the stuff :) Sometimes swimming in delicious sauce, sometimes with a bit o chili on top, either way its allll good.

Theres a Chinese fried tofu dish thats pretty amazing too.....big plate of the tender morsels garnished with lots of garlic and hot peppers.....
