New Thai Restaurant

Located about 30m from the corner of Soi Sampan & Prajak rd. (a few shops over AJ internet and same side of street). Price of most dishes average 60bt. Nice decor, clean, A/C and friendly staff. They advertise Thai & European cuisine, but I only saw Thai food on the menu. The small selection of meat fillet/steak were the closest thing to western. A western breakfast is available, but it hasn't been added to the menu. The menu is in Thai & English. Presently, they're open from 0900-2200, but in the near future they'll open at 0700.

They have brewed coffee, the real stuff not the 3-1 crap or instant (didn't ask about tea). Wifi available (password protected), but staff didn't know the key at the time. Hopefully, they work out those little kinks.

Also, directly across the street is another Thai place that looks interesting, looks like a noodle house & bakery. Next on my list...

the best thai restaurants in town are over by rajaphat university. there's a bunch on the end of soi KATUHY as
it meets TAHAN rd and there are more on tahan road facing the college. food cooked to order. 30 baht a plate.
and it's a big plate, not the tiny little mouse-sized portions they try to give you at preecha market. fried egg
on top for an extra 5 baht. complimentary ice water. all condiments , sauces, toothpicks on the table (again
unlike the night market where i guess you're supposed to wipe your face with your hands) anyway, all these
places have an extensive thai menu on a banner within premises. the standard procedure is to scribble your
order on a little slip of paper and hand it to the cook. no english spoken, read or written :clap: so anyway
you can get two plates with a fried egg on top of each and end up with a 70 baht bill. absolutely unbeatable. :rock:

I concur, but most farang on here wouldn't set foot in a place without English speaking staff, A/C, bottled water or proper napkins :lol:

hey don't get me wrong, i've been sleeping on a bench outside the 7-11 down there. just don't see the need to pay rent :lol:
mortiboy and i are having a contest for "udon's greatest cheapskate" and let me tell you folks, i'm ahead by several lengths

seriously, all jokes aside. it's really eye-opening to see what local fare you can get for 30-35 plate :clap:

That sounds just the ticket, have a plate of cao pat gung, a couple of cups of coffee and a browse of t'internet. Can you get a picture for me so I can find it when I'm over for the Christmas Hols? ++)(*
