Makha Bucha Day
Makha Bucha day is March 7th which is the start of Buddhist Lent. I assume the bars will be closed but do the restaurants stay open and serve alcohol if food is ordered?
As an aside the next 3 months are a good time to travel by bus as you can get the back row seats with more legroom...555
I have just spoken with the boss of Kinaree who told me they will be open as usual.

Re: Makha Bucha Day
I think regardless of if an establishment serves food or not it cannot sell alcohol on Wednesday Makha Bucha day or the other days below. (Please correct me if I am wrong.) The Kinnaree can sell due to its hotel classification licence. Looks like Italian Wednesday could be very popular this week. ++)(*
The following days alcohol is typically banned. There are a few more and we can update nearer to when they crop up.
Wednesday, 7 March 2012 – Makha Bucha Day
Monday, 4 June 2012 – Visakha Bucha Day
Thursday, 2 August 2012 – Asarnha Bucha Day

Re: Makha Bucha Day
Oh my god the world is coming to an end. 3 or 4 days when we cannot drink in bars. Can only drink in hotels / restaurants classfied as hotels and at home during this time. How will we cope.
..(Now if someone will answer my homebrew cider question on the other thread I'll be happy again)

I echo your sentiment in hot & sunny Udon having a cold brew in the Kinaree

Re: Makha Bucha Day
What drugs and alcohol do they give you to test?
I was going into Uthmaniyah plant Saturday morning when an Aramco guard pulled me over and I had to do the open all doors etc. routine. A dog handler with his labrador come out, I immediately moved down wind, he put the labrador through the truck, told me to wait and he brought out a springer. The dog went through the truck and little bstard sat down in the boot! He called me over and asked if there was anything I wanted to tell him whilst he produced a brick of Afghanistan's finest black from the boot.
A training exercise that cost me a new pair of trousers, heart palpitations, gave him a good laugh but he still wouldn't give me a bit for my trouble.
