We have a grapevine along the front of our house which Mrs N & The Boy pick the tiny green grapes, about the size of peas & dip in phrik glua. They taste aweful to me

A sour grapes comment if I ever heard one.

While my wife was given a luncheon of crab, prawns, spicy salad, chicken and copious amounts of a frothy liquid by her company. , I, on the other hand, wolfed down a creamy peanut butter sandwich. I guess we know who had the better fare.

My wife said that kanom piak kaowpoht does not taste the same as kanom takoh for the reason you suggest - different preparation. My wife explained it all to me last night in Lao, Phu Thai or Thai. She does not speak English and, much to her chagrin, I speak functional Thai, which does not include food preparation. I did gather that one of the items gets pounded/a thrashing with a mortar much as in the making of som tam. I will politely ask her to write out the difference in Thai tonight and see if the request if granted. It is probably only something Mrs. Shado and Mrs. Uncle could understand. Well, Mrs. Hamlay might know too but seeing as Khun Hamlay is reluctant to communicate with his so much better half, it is probably best to leave him out of this.
